April Ross
April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball stars who won medals at several Olympics. Alix Klineman, taking part for the very first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games is hoping to secure her third Olympic medal. Ross is hoping to secure an Olympic the first medal of gold, but she is also aiming to win more. There is a chance that it is her last opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. She's certain that the top prizes are in reach. Ross was mentioned in NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your top, even if you play well we will get the gold. Then I will also take the opportunity to try my chance. Ross was born in California in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. She grew up in Costa Mesa along with her parents and sister. Ross played in numerous activities while at Newport Harbor High School. Along with indoor volleyball, she played basketball and jogged track as a pre-collegiate athlete. In the last sport, she clearly stood out. The college bio says that she was an outside hitter middle blocker, and setter during her volleyball career in high school. Her achievements were rewarded when she was named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National Player of the Year. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross and Klineman have been performing their roles from 2017. But, Ross was an important player on the beach volleyball circuit before joining the duo. The fact is, she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one partner was a volleyball superstar. She teamed up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's coach. Along together with Kessy Ross, she won a World Title in 2009 when she competed internationally. At the 2012 Olympic Games, they were awarded a gold medal. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the team of legends which was the winners of the 2012 Olympics in London, edged each other to take home the gold. Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. The pair were able to win the beach volleyball bronze in the Rio Olympics in 2016. After high school and many years before hitting the sand as a pro Ross balled out for the USC Trojans as an NCAA. Ross's Trojans experience was amazing. In 2000, she was named Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year and an All-American. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she suffered a tremendous personal setback, but she was able to repeat as an All-American. Over the course of her two final years with the Trojans, she helped them to win two consecutive titles. As an individual Ross established her status as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award is given to the best female college volleyball players in the United States. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross didn't get to see Ross achieve beach volleyball's top stage. In 2001 when Ross was in her sophomore year at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. She continues to cherish her late parent. Margie has been an inspiration in her life and on the beach.
