Despacito is a 2017 song that was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the most streamed and downloaded song in the world within six months. In 2017, the song Despacito, a mixture of pop music with reggaeton, not only brought new interest to reggaeton but also brought more attention to Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 had four songs mostly in Spanish as of 2016, in contrast to two in 2015. In the midst of Despacito's fame in 2017, there were 19 predominantly Spanish tracks that made the top 100. And in 2020 the number was 41. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 with a version in two languages. Then, various artists collaborated with Reggaeton stars like Drake and Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma with Medellin 2019. The gradual mainstreaming of reggaeton became an issue for certain performers by 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, were keen to keep the look. Rauw Alejandro incorporated electronic dance forms as well as other styles into his music.
